A generalized approach to belief learning in repeated games
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a methodology that is generalizable to a broad class of repeated games in order to facilitate operability of belief learning models with repeated-game strategies. The methodology consists of (1) a generalized repeated-game strategy space, (2) a mapping between histories and repeated-game beliefs, and (3) asynchronous updating of repeated-game strategies. We implement the proposed methodology by building on three proven action learning models. Their predictions with repeated-game strategies are then validated with data from experiments with human subjects in four, symmetric 2× 2 games: Prisoner’s Dilemma, Battle of the Sexes, Stag-Hunt, and Chicken. The models with repeated-game strategies approximate subjects’ behavior substantially better than their respective models with action learning. Additionally, inferred rules of behavior in the experimental data overlap with the rules of behavior predicted. JEL Classification: C51, C92, C72, D03

A belief-based approach to the repeated prisoners' dilemma with asymmetric private monitoring
The belief-based approach for repeated games with private monitoring studies an important class of strategies where at each point of the game, each players optimal continuation strategy is determined by the players beliefs of the private state of the opponents. This paper extends the belief-based approach to the repeated prisonersdilemma with asymmetric private monitoring. We rst nd that t...
متن کاملUtilizing Generalized Learning Automata for Finding Optimal Policies in MMDPs
Multi agent Markov decision processes (MMDPs), as the generalization of Markov decision processes to the multi agent case, have long been used for modeling multi agent system and are used as a suitable framework for Multi agent Reinforcement Learning. In this paper, a generalized learning automata based algorithm for finding optimal policies in MMDP is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, MMDP ...

متن کاملComparing flow experience of medical students in cognitive, behavioral, and social educational games: A quasi-experimental study
Background & Objective: This study contributed to the current body of literature on educational games by comparing medical students’ flow experience in three types of educational games developed based on three learning theories: behavioral, cognitive, and social. Materials & Methods: A quasi-experimental repeated measure design was employed. A total of 39 second-year medical students played th...
متن کاملSophisticated EWA Learning and Strategic Teaching in Repeated Games
Most learning models assume players are adaptive (i.e., they respond only to their own previous experience and ignore others' payo® information) and behavior is not sensitive to the way in which players are matched. Empirical evidence suggests otherwise. In this paper, we extend our adaptive experienceweighted attraction (EWA) learning model to capture sophisticated learning and strategic teach...
